PORTLAND, OREGON, USA. Sun. 30 Jun. 2024 - Three-time W Series champion and Andretti Global INDY NXT driver, Jamie Chadwick, delivered an electrifying performance at Portland International Raceway this weekend ahead of the second round of the 2024 HANKOOK PORTLAND E-PRIX. In her second season with Andretti Global and fresh off a historic INDY NXT victory earlier this month where she became the first ever female to win on a road course, Chadwick drove the Formula E GEN3 electric race car for the first time, reaching speeds of over 150km/h on the iconic racetrack.
The GEN3 is the world's fastest, lightest and most sustainable electric race car. Compared to its predecessor, the GEN3 car is 75 percent more powerful, has a top speed that is 95km/h greater, and boasts six times the power regeneration capability.
Chadwick also showcased her impressive skills and speed by taking racing legend and Andretti Global team owner Michael Andretti out on a Hot Lap on the team’s home soil in a Porsche Taycan.
While in Portland, Jamie was out to support fellow Andretti Global drivers Jake Dennis and Norman Nato, as well as join the broadcast presentation team as driver analyst for both races.
Jamie Chadwick, said:
“To be given the opportunity to drive the GEN3 car was really special. Getting to experience what the battery power can do and how that feels under your feet was really cool. It’s great to see how far the series has come as a whole and everything Formula E are doing to champion change."
"The Hot Lap was also really fun. Michael knows this track better than anyone, so it was great to get the chance to ride with him.”
Michael Andretti, CEO, Andretti Global said:
"Riding with Jamie was great fun. Her talent and precision on the track are evident. From her days dominating W Series to her milestone victory in INDY NXT, I’m proud to have her as part of the Andretti Global family and look forward to her continued success.”
Beth Paretta, VP of Sporting, Formula E said:
“It was great to have Jamie join us here in Portland for a Formula E race weekend. We’re thrilled to see drivers like Jamie leading the charge, setting new standards, and inspiring the next generation of racers."
“As a series that strives to be at the forefront of innovation and inclusivity, we hope to be able to offer more opportunities for female talent to get behind the wheel of Formula E machinery and race in the world’s fastest-growing electric motorsport championship in the future.”
Season 10 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship comes to a close on July 20 and 21 where the ExCEL London will play host to an exciting double-header season finale of electric racing at the 2024 HANKOOK LONDON E-PRIX.
