Aug. 23-25 NTT INDYCAR SERIES weekend features 10 total races from five series
PORTLAND, Ore. (July 16, 2024) – Single Day tickets for the 2024 BITNILE.COM Grand Prix of Portland, the annual NTT INDYCAR SERIES race weekend at Portland International Raceway (PIR), are on sale now to the public. Tickets for the 30th running of this Rose City tradition taking place Aug. 23-25 can be purchased at RacePortland.com.
The three-day racing event headlined by Round 14 of 17 for the NTT INDYCAR SERIES will mark the 40th anniversary of the inaugural professional open-wheel race held at PIR in 1984. The Championship Auto Racing Teams sanctioned event was won by Al Unser Jr.
Ticket prices start as low as $25 for Single Day General Admission and $70 for Single Day Grandstand seats. Three-day tickets remain available for purchase and offer the best fan value. General Admission for the entire weekend is just $75, and a 3-Day Grandstand reserved seat starts at $85 which includes gate admission.
The NTT INDYCAR SERIES, featuring the cars and stars of the Indianapolis 500, will take the green flag on Sunday, Aug. 25, as the series’ 2024 championship chase enters its home stretch. The 2023 Portland race saw Chip Ganassi Racing’s Alex Palou clinch the season championship with a win. The INDYCAR points leader after the completion of the past five Portland rounds (2018-2019, 2021-2023) has gone on to claim the series season title.
“This great Portland event has brought fans a lot of incredible races and memories over the past 40 years, including last year’s championship clinching performance by Alex Palou,” said Jerry Jensen, general manager of Green Savoree Portland LLC, which owns and operates the event at PIR. “We look forward to another memorable weekend at PIR next month as five open-wheel series fill an action-packed schedule across the three days.”
This 2024 field will include past Portland race winners Alex Palou (2021, 2023), Scott McLaughlin (2022) and Will Power (2019). Including Power, the grid could also boast up to five Indianapolis 500 winners: the current back-to-back winner Josef Newgarden, 2008 winner and six-time NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion Scott Dixon, Marcus Ericsson and Alexander Rossi.
In total, the BITNILE.COM Grand Prix of Portland will bring fans nonstop action with 10 total races from five different open-wheel series. INDY NXT by Firestone, INDYCAR’s primary feeder series, will battle on Sunday, Aug. 25, for 35 laps on the 1.964-mile, 12-turn road course. Additionally, drivers from all three of the USF Pro Championships Presented by Continental Tire series (USF Pro 2000, USF2000 and USF Juniors) will conclude their seasons and contend for championships with multiple races across the weekend.
A limited quantity of 3-Day Gold Level Grandstand offering reserved seating for the highest rows are still available and include a Paddock Pass to get up close to the cars and drivers in the “locker room of motorsports.” Additionally, Pit Passes remain available for purchase for guests 18 years of age or older. These passes provide access to pitlane during practice and qualifying sessions and can only be purchased in combination with 3-Day Grandstand tickets.
Children 12 and under receive free General Admission to the event. This also includes complimentary access to the NTT INDYCAR SERIES Paddock throughout the weekend when accompanied by a ticketed adult. PIR is located less than a tenth of a mile from a public transit stop - the Delta Park/Vanport MAX Station on TriMet’s MAX Yellow Line - making a trip to the track exceptionally affordable for families.
