Green Savoree Portland is looking for friendly and enthusiastic volunteers with a can-do attitude for both the NASCAR Xfinity Series event in June and BITNILE.COM Grand Prix of Portland in September. Volunteering at the Event is a unique and fulfilling experience that will offer great insight into one of the largest annual sporting events in the Pacific Northwest. We hope you will join our team!
BITNILE.COM GRAND PRIX OF PORTLAND VOLUNTEER APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN

Please read the below role descriptions and when completing your online application, please rank your position selection(s) in order of preference. There is NO GUARANTEE you will be placed in your preferred position, however we do ensure a fun and eventful weekend.

All volunteers will be required to maintain a positive attitude and exercise good judgment and discretion in handling all matters and have a full understanding and adhere to the policies and procedures set in place by the Green Savoree Portland.

VOLUNTEER TEAMS

PHOTOGRAPHY (FULL)

Volunteers on this team will assist by providing photographs of event, specific event features, fans and on track action. These photos will be uploaded to GPP drive folders and permission granted for use on event social media, website, and marketing materials.   *Photography team applicants will need to submit a supplemental application including examples of work.

MEDIA CENTER (FULL)

Volunteers on this team will assist in providing support in the onsite press room, performing a number of unique duties and interacting directly with members of the media. Volunteers will responsible for greeting media personnel as they arrive in the media centre, answering basic questions, and be responsible for providing support at track press conferences and with the distribution of press materials. In addition, volunteers may be required in assisting with photocopying and providing directions/handouts, ushering drivers/media members to and from press conferences.

VOLUNTEER SERVICES

The Volunteer Services Team will be responsible for assistings with check ins, manning the volunteer tent and delivering cases of water and ice to various volunteer locations around the track and various offices within the Event throughout the weekend in order to ensure that volunteers are kept hydrated. The team will also assist in relieving other team leads requiring extra help or coverage for breaks and providing support to areas that require “extra” volunteers for a brief period over the course of the weekend.

CEREMONIES

The Ceremonies team will be responsible for assisting in a variety of functions, including the delivery of VIPs to specific locations at a precise time during pre-and post race ceremonies. Volunteers may also assist with autograph sessions, Q & As, the pre-race parade lap, and directing dignitaries to check-in for involvement during pre-race and post-race ceremonies. Volunteers will also assist with the set-up of champagne, water, trophies, backdrops, etc. The Ceremonies team will compose of individuals who are mature, and have responsible behaviour capable of coping with a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.

EVENT AMBASSADOR

Volunteers will be responsible for welcoming guests at each grandstand or hospitality suites entrance as they arrive and directing them to their reserved seats as per their ticket. Volunteers will also assist in ensuring the safe and efficient traffic flow of guests to avoid potential accidents or confrontations, and staying alert to the build-up of lines. Volunteers must familiarize themselves with the event site layout to be able to provide proper assistance and answer guest questions accurately. In addition, volunteers will be required to regularly patrol the bottom level of each hospitality staircase or grandstand to remove any spectator blocking the view of others and report any problems within grandstands to a team captain, roamer or member of event staff.  

SOCIAL MEDIA

The Social Media Team will assist in uploading photos for social media use, generating on-site fan content as well as executing contests during the event weekend and any additional responsibilities as required. In addition, volunteers on this team will also be responsible for engaging with guest around the event site and conducting surveys on their experience during the event.

CUSTOMER SERVICE

The Customer Services Team will welcome guest as they arrive at the event in a courteous manner and check the authenticity of tickets as they enter the facility or paddock area and provide them with any ticketing information they may need.

Customer Service volunteers should also have detailed knowledge of the event, from the schedule of events to various landmarks within the circuit. Volunteers will also need to know the various on-track times, cross-over times, concert and air show times. Answer any and all questions regarding locations of concessions, merchandise, grandstands, restrooms, atms, First Aid, Lost & Found, Paddock Area, etc from patrons and vendors. Interact with spectators and guests to provide event information and direction and distribute on-site fan guides and other support series literature at various locations.

The Customer Services team may also be required to temporarily relieve other volunteers at their stations to cover breaks. A small break-off team will be in charge of the Credential Center, situated in an indoor air-conditioned environment and volunteers here will assist the credential center manager with the distribution of event credentials, parking and pit passes to staff, service contractors, sponsors and other qualified groups.
